Law School Admission Test - LSAT

Law School Admission Test (LSAT)

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a standardized test administered by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for prospective law school candidates. It is designed to assess reading comprehension and logical reasoning. The test is an integral part of the law school admission process in the United States, Canada (common law programs only), the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a growing number of other countries.

The test has existed in some form since 1948, when it was created to give law schools a standardized way to assess applicants in addition to their GPA. The current form of the exam has been used since 1991.

LSAT─India

LSAC started administering the LSAT for Indian law schools in 2009.The test is administered twice a year by a Pearson on behalf of LSAC. There are around 1300 law schools in India, however LSAT─India scores are accepted by only about 10-15 private law schools in the country.

Developed specifically for use by law colleges in India, the LSAT—India tests for high-level reading, informal reasoning, and deductive reasoning skills. These acquired critical thinking skills are essential to succeed in both law college and in the practise of law.
